Can you help me with a recommendation on a restaurant for a couple of friends that are having anniversary, and want to make it a super special event?
Their anniversary is on July 17th.
It is important the view, the restaurant and the closeness to Rome.
Thanks!

I have been researching on Via Michelin, I found this nice restaurants ... Can you tell me which one would you go for an anniversary lunch?
The Cesar, at hotel Posta Vecchia, Ladispoli
Acqua Pazza, Ponza
La Terrazza degli Ulivi
Is there any other with sea view close to Rome that you would go to for this special occasion?
Ponza isn't particularly close to Rome at all, certainly not a drive I'd make for dinner, and the ferry schedules are a pain. They'd need to spend the night in Anzio or on the island.
And will they have a car? Ladispoli is 40 kms away from Rome.
How about a LAKE view? Castel Gandolfo, another town on Lake Albano, might be a good place to investigate. It's only 15 miles from Rome and they can get there by bus.
The only thing I can think of that is reasonably close to Rome and on the ocean is Lido di Ostia. If you do a search for Lido di Ostia Restaurants you will find some with reviews. But I don't know anything about them.
Rome and environs is not really known for great seascapes. You could take a boat ride down the river to Ostai Antica and then a taxi down to the Lido, which might make it a more enjoyable experience than the train.
Do be aware that Fiumicino airport is right next door, too. So it might be noisy.
I wooupd be surprised if you found anything truly special.
StCirq, yes, they will have a car, and they have agreed to drive one hour. Maybe if the restaurant and the beach are really nice they may want to drive there.
THey are thinking about going for a daytrip, spending the day at the beach and having lunch at the restaurant with the ocean view.
I will try also for the Lido di Ostia zone.
since they plan to actually spend time on the beach, then I will say that Lido di Ostia is not a particularly attractive beach. I believe he trip there is longer than an hour, but the beach and scenery Sperlonga are nicer.
Lido di Ostia is a grungy place, not special in the least. I agree they should head down the coast toward Sperlonga, Anzio, etc.
It may not exist in less than a 2 hour radius---I suggest Sperlongaa and spend the night.
Bob is right. If you don't want to travel more than an hour, you are not going to find a good spot.
The Hotel Posta Vecchia (once owned by J. Paul Getty) is gorgeous, and the terrace of the Cesar Restaurant is a great setting. But the view? Basically just the sea as the coastline in either direction is flat and IMO uninteresting. The hotel and service would be the bigger draw than the view.
I second ellenem's suggestion of Castel Gandolfo and recommend Ristorante Pagnanelli. It's been a few years since we ate there, but I have to believe it's still (after 125 years) a good dining bet. The views of the lake and gardens are beautiful.
