Angelina's Salon: Exactly where is it, please?
Though I've been to Paris many times, I've never visited Angelina's. I realize people either seem to love it or loathe it, but I will be with a group of friends in Paris for their first visit in July and, knowing a couple are crazy for sweets, I think this could be a very "Paris" experience for them.
I've been to the website, I saw the addresses, but I need to place the one on Rue Rivoli to work it into our walk. For some reason I can't recall ever passing it. Can one of you kindly give me an intersection or a landmark nearby?

If you put "Hotel Meurice, Paris" into the address field of Google maps then drag the little Street View guy to the spot marked you'll see it there to the right facing the hotel. Not that you need to after the information above but it's fun to look.

The African Chocolate is just too sweet and heavy for me, but the Mont Blanc is a superb treat, IMHO. They have been serving it since 1903, I'm told.

I think they're both wonderful -- just not at the same time!
Don't think of the chocolat africain as a drink -- it is to be eaten with a spoon. If you find it too sweet, add a dollop -- or alternate spoonfuls -- of whipped cream.
The first time I ever tasted the Mont Blanc, I thought, "There's no point in ever eating dessert again, because it doesn't get any better than this." (That didn't last, of course.)
It just happens to be be a combination of things I love, and a case where the whole is better than the sum of its parts. .-)
BTW, I neither love nor hate Angelina's -- there are just so many places to go in Paris -- but I think it's one of those things everybody should do at least once in life.
