Andalucia Itinerary Help
We just booked tickets to Madrid for a two week trip, arriving 21 Nov and departing 3 Dec. We are in our late 40s and enjoy exploring cities and small towns (we loved the hill towns of Tuscany). We prefer to get to know a place instead of moving every day or two. Any suggestions/recommendation on our itinerary would be appreciated:
21 Nov Arrive Madrid in AM. Madrid (3 nights).
22 Nov Madrid.
23 Nov Madrid.
24 Nov Train to Sevilla. Seville (3 nights).
25 Nov Seville.
26 Nov Seville.
27 Nov Rent a car and drive to Jerez, overnight in Arcos de la Frontera.
28 Nov Drive to Ronda, overnight in Ronda.
29 Nov Another night in Ronda or drive to a new town. Is Ubeda/Baeza too far?
30 Nov Drive to Granada. Granada (3 nights).
1 Dec Granada.
2 Dec Granada.
3 Dec Return to Madrid and fly home.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi wayne,
i agree with viajero that the second part of the trip is a bit rushed.
i think that I would miss out jerez [it's really in the wrong direction] and drive to Granada via Ronda or cordoba, or possibly both.
you could fit cordoba on as a day trip from Seville,, especially if you gave it an extra night.
this would fit in better with your stated aim of getting to know a place rather than moving around every day or two.
have a great trip,
regards, ann

Thanks for your recommendations. Looks like we'll skip Jerez and spend more time in the Arcos area.
We'll spend 2 nights in Ronda then drive up to Granada. Do you think 3 days/3 nights each in Seville and Granada is too much?

How much time in Granada is a tough one to call in the context of your trip. I strongly believe the best parts of Andalucia are up in the mountains, the White Towns; Vejer, Arcos, Grazalema, Ronda. However, Nov has a tendency for rain and shortened days up there. That said, I would cut one day in Granada and try to explore more of the White Towns, add Vejer and Grazalema. Leave Nov 30 open ("in God's Good Humor".

Hi, WayneY -
> Do you think 3 days/3 nights each in Seville and Granada is too much?
I don't think so, particularly if you "prefer to get to know a place instead of moving every day or two." But you can see many of the major sites in each city in 2 full days if you choose to do so.
> Another night in Ronda or drive to a new town.
Tough call - I loved Ronda, but one full day and night was enough for me there.
I would encourage you to try to find time to visit Cordoba - the Mezquita is really quite special.
Also, I wonder if you considered an open-jaw ticket so you don't needto back track to Madrid at the end of your trip.
Hope that helps!
