An short overnight in Zurich

What to do and where to stay?
I have a short overlay in Zurich (ZRH airport). I land at 19:10 and leave the next day at 13:10 to Los Angeles. I have done this before and had a magical morning walk by the river with fresh snow on the ground. But I don't remember where I stayed.
What was great before was that I was able to leave my luggage at the airport and I took a small overnight bag with me.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
M

well generally, you still can leave your stuff in the airport... if you cant deposit it with the airline, there should be deposit boxes in the airport...

generally the problem is, that you lack time.. when landing on 19.10 you will be in the city at around 21.00 which is not very late, but late allready, also a bit dependant on the day ofc...

the next morning you will have to leave zürich at around 10.00.. so it would be ok, to not be overly out of everything...

the question realy is, how much do you want to pay...
there are hotels right in the city, next to the main station.. but this will cost you quite a bit, especially for one night...
there are hotels like ibis etc, which will cost you (i guess) around 70 franks the night, but are next to the industrial zone and 10mins off by tram from the main station...

so it realy is a question of how much you want to spend....

Hi Mi,

We very much liked our stay at http://www.st-josef.ch/ . About 10 min from the train station, down by the river.

I agree with Ira on Hotel t. Josef. I have been staying there for years. LOVE IT! Yes, there are lockers for your luggage at the Zurich airport. Some are located where the escalators go down to the trains. Very convenient.

Thanks so much about your Zurich reply. It sounds like I'm going to stay at Josef's. This FORUM is wonderful. Thanks again! Michal

Try the Central Plaza Hotel in Zurick. It is just across the river from the main railway station. I have used the hotel as an overnight stay when catching a morning flight returning from skiing trips. You can go for drinks and diner walk back along the river and have a nightcap at the hotel lounge that looks out onto the plaza and river. I the morning you can either take a cab or the train into the airport.
