Amsterdam/Station

My husband and myself are planning 3 days in Amsterdam can anyone recommend a hotel opposite the station approx £50 per room per night. We intend to travel to keukenhof also Delft.
Are there any other means of transport to the above places apart from rail.

Next to /opposite to the Central Station are the Victoria Hotel, the Botel and the Ibis Hotel. The Victoria is the nicest of these (4 stars) but would probably be more than EUR 75.

The area around the Central Station would certainly be convenient but it is the most densely populated area in one of the most densely populated cities in Europe. Central Amsterdam is small with a fantastic tram system. Most of the trams stop within feet of the entrance to the Central Station. There are hotels throughout the city. Finding a room anywhere under 50 especially with the exchange rate is going to be tought unless you go with a hostel. As far as getting around the Netherlands, the train is really convenient. It is also an easy country to drive and navigating it is easy.

Vernie, I've got just the answer for you. There's a service called CityMundo, that I use to rent apartments. Ultra-reliable. They have them in all categories, but here's one for a total of 188 euro for three nights (the minimum). I found this one easily, but look around their site, you might find one you like better. You will not get a hotel you would want to stay in for anywhere near 50 euro in Amsterdam.

No matter WHAT the currency..50 in any country isn't going to get anything you'd want to stay in, if at all, "opposite" Centraal Station or proabably within a few blocks down the Damrak either.
