Amsterdam hotel advice needed

I am looking for a hotel, 2 or 3 star, in the central area, for under 150 euro for two people. We are middle aged couples who like to have fun but prefer a quiet place to sleep! Access to public transport is a plus, but just about anywhere in the central area would meet that, I suppose. (I have been to Amsterdam before, but not since 2006. At that time, i stayed at the Canal House, but it appears to have gone quite upscale since my stay! Too rich for my pocketbook now.)

Thank you for any recommendations.
