Hello,
A friend and I (males, 30s) are going to Amsterdam in about a month and we are very interested in seeing a soccer match. We are from the states and would like to witness a 'real' soccer experience. We will be staying near the central train station in Amsterdam. There are two options that I'm interested in: 1) Feyenoord v NEC Nij. at De Kuip Stadion or 2) Ajax v Twente at Amsterdam ArenA. Both are about 30 min away (according to google maps) and are higher caliber teams. Ajax has a package that includes match tickets in section 113 for ~150 euro for 2 people. I haven't heard back from Feyenoord.
If anyone has been to either (or both) of these stadiums or seen these teams play, please share your experience/advice with me. Has anyone used the section 113 Ajax package? Is it easy to get to these stadiums via public transportation? I haven't been able to find much info other than the team websites. I'm hoping the experienced travelers here can share their stories.
Thanks much.

Ajax play at the Amsterdam Arena, which is very easy to get to by public transport from central Amsterdam.
Twente are currently top of the league so it is a big match. If you can get tickets good luck to you.
You can get a train to either Duivendrecht or Bijlmer ArenA, or the metro (50 or 54) to Bijlmer ArenA or Strandvliet/Arena or get a bus (29,158, 174, 177 en 178).
Visit http://9292.nl/en for timings etc. You will need an OV chipkaart for the metro or bus, but can buy paper tickets still for the train.
I would avoid Feyenoord-NEC - both have problem supporters, and the Kuip is more than 30 minutes from Amsterdam, whether by car or public transport.
Oh and it is football, not soccer or futbol. Or voetbal in Dutch if you prefer.
Don't do the Feyenoord match. Hardcore stuff on the supporters' side and the potential for lots of ugly violence and random arrests by the police.
Ajax - Twente should be good though.
Go with the Ajax match - and read up on Ajax history too. In Europe, football clubs are more than just a team name and a city location.
Excellent, thank you for the replies, I'll proceed with plans for the Ajax match. I'll do more research on the team as I'm interested in the passion and history.
If anyone has gone to an Ajax match at Amsterdam Arena, I'd love to hear about your experience and any advice/tips.
Thanks again.
Expect lots and lots of police presence and containment measures. Ajax supporters "F side" is also known for its violence, but it's usually contained by police measures. Make sure you end up at the Ajax side of the stadium and be careful who you cheer for. Don't be surprised if you see israeli flags. Ajax is considered to be a Jews' team and are often taunted by cheers referring to gassing of jews and Hamas (not by Twente supporters so much but it is a constant theme if Ajax and Feyenoord clash)
Which language is "Futbol" out of interest.
Portugese I think
No, I think it's Fútbol in portugal. Any other ideas?
