Amsterdam Airport Hotel?
We have an offer for $50 per night at Sheraton Amsterdam airport....We only have two nights in Amsterdam and then a flight out and wonder if this hotel is acceptably convenient for dropping our bags, taking the train into the city and returning at night. Is it just a 15 minute ride?
On our departure day it will be very convenient to just exit the hotel into the airport.
In most cities we visit we have not chosen the airport hotels but Amsterdam sounds rather acceptable...any experiences staying here?
Thank you

Hi tracys2cents
That's a great rate for this hotel.
About 7 weeks ago we did exactly what you are planning and were impressed with what we found.
There is indeed a direct link from the airport terminal to the hotel. Escalators take you up to a walkway and the hotel is a 5-minutes gentle stroll. Along the walkway you will find a few cafes and shops plus a small bar.
We asked for rooms with an airport view and it wasn't a problem. The rooms were quiet and very pleasant. Typical Sheraton standard.
After checking in and having a shower we returned to the airport and took the train into the city for dinner. The journey time was a little over 20 minutes.
Early the next morning it was a snap just strolling into the airport 5 minutes after checking out.
If we return to Amsterdam in similar circumstances I will use that Sheraton again.

Intrepid- you're right - i checked bahn site and no train takes longer than 19 mins! I thot i'd been on trains that seem to take forever when stopping at these two stations but schedules say no more than 19 mins. Foiled again!
