American Airlines passenger care

On 4/14 my wife & I with 12 & 15YO. grandchildren set out for a spring break adventure from Ft. Myers Fl. to Miami to JFK to London @ 5:20 PM. All day thunderstorms had Miami all backed up & we finally arrived @ JFK around 1:30AM. Our London flight left @ 11:30 PM. American gave us vouchers & transportation th the nearby Marriott & seats on the full 6:30AM flight to London. On our return London-Dallas-Miami-Ft.Myers. My 15YO granddaughter became ill 1 hr out of Dallas, vomiting, severe stomach pains etc. Crewmembers took over, radioed ahead declaring a medical emergency. We we met by paramedics & airline personell who cleared us through customs on the plane & rushed us to the nearest Columbia hospital.8 1/2 later as the ER personell were able to get my granddaughter fixed up an ER nurse contacted American who was monitoring our progress. American sent their courtesy van to the hospital, picked up the 4 of us & took us to the Holiday Inn Select with vouchers for the rooms & seats on the next days flight. With a lot of complaints today about the airlines We want everyone to know that American Airlines went way beyond the call of duty to take care of us and we are grateful.

Last month returning from Las Vegas to Dallas, to Miami, to Naples,Fl. our flight from Dallas to Miami was greatly delayed. American put us on a flight instead to Ft. Myers. The good news was we were back (almost home) three and a half hours early. The bad news was we were at the wrong airport. Our car was sitting at Naples. We took a taxi from Ft. Myers to Naples and turned in the bill to American. Not only did they pay the bill, they credited each of our accounts 1000 miles for the inconvenience. Yes, I too like American.

I have flown mostly on American for quite some time now, and while I've not had unfortunate experiences like those above, they've always done well by me (and I do have some special needs), and even though I'm not a terribly frequent flier, they've bumped me up to business class several times without my even asking for it. I also think they have better food than most.

It was late last night when I typed my first message, now here's another. Two years ago our American Eagle flight was delayed an hour from Naples to Miami, and we missed our Miami to London Heathrow flight on which we had upgraded to business class. American put us on their Miami to Gatwick flight one hour later and bumped us to first class (they no longer do the Gatwick flight). In addition, we had purchased very cheap non-changeable tickets on Aer Lingus to take us from Heathrow to Dublin, which now were going to be useless. American put us on a BA flight from Gatwick to Dublin at their expense and again, we got extra frequent flyer miles. We got to Dublin 45 minutes after our original arrival time, and this was with a missed flight and a first class upgrade. I couldn't have hoped for anything better.

My wife and I just returned from London. We took American from JFK. I was quite impressed by their performance for the passengers. Both our flights boarded on time, left on time and arrived early. The planes were great, especially the new 777 (many gadgets for entertainment). The food was superb and plentiful. The attendants were very attentive and helpful. At each airport the American personnel wee pleasant and efficient. This was our first transatlantic flight and we were pleasantly surprised. At the same time my Mom and sister were flying out of Baltimore on America West. To make a long story short-plenty of delay (initial one 6 hours) and heartache. At the moment I love American Airlines.

We also recently flew AA. Flight from O'Hare to Manchester completely full. Service was OK. Food was the usual fare. Return from Heathrow was only half full. Very pleasant. Great service. Food actually had taste to it. Plane was a 777--much more spacious than the flight over. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the promised extra 2 inches between seats did indeed make a difference. I am 6 ft tall and could actually move my legs (a tiny bit) when the charming people in front of me reclined their seats for the entire flight. Both flights left within 15 minutes of scheduled departure and arrived early at both destinations. I would fly them again, especially for the addtional leg room.

xxx:
If the plane was only half full, why was anyone in front of you to make your flight uncomfortable? I'd have found a spot where I could stretch out and relax a bit.

One of the best flights I've ever had was on American. I spent 5 years flying every week on business all over the US and have tried about every airline and my pick is American for the service, care of clients, food etc.
