American Airline Ticket Prices
I recently read that AA prices had dropped since I booked my tour. I called about something else and mentioned it to the ticket agent who checked the latest price. She found that, indeed, they had dropped, and issued the difference to my credit card. I dealt directly with AA, not a private agency. What a nice surprise!

What?????????? AA credited a credit card? I'm about to have a heart attack! Can it be a new employee who doesn't know their rule of vouchers-minus-$100?
OK, this was my initial reaction. Have you booked a tour, not only air with AA? Maybe that's why they refunded you instead of issuing a voucher.
Had AA prices dropped for the flight only, or for the total cost of the tour?
In any case, good for you, Going!

I should have finished the story...
We bought tickets in November 2003 for a trip to France in September 2004. When the fare dropped, I called AA and was told WITHOUT ASKING that my credit card would be reimbursed for the price difference. Have no idea why! Maybe business was down at the time?

Could cash-or-credit relate to the amount of the fare reductions, international v. domestic? In other words, was the reduction on the international fare a significant amount? Over some (unpublished) threshold?

We booked on AA to Ireland using two $300 vouchers and paid the difference on my credit card. The price went down and they issued me vouchers for the difference (two $80 vouchers). The price went down again and I asked for vouchers for the difference once again.
I think they did it because I used vouchers and had to mail them in to Florida, and they had not ticketed the flight at the time the price went down.
When I asked for the second price reduction vouchers, they sent me two vouchers for the price of the flight (a tad over $600).
When I called to ask why I got the vouchers in the mail, they replied --Oops. Ignore the vouchers (yea, right). They made the mistake of cancelling my flight by accident. They rebooked me on the flight, and oh, I had these wonderful vouchers. Damn the hard luck.

It was an International flight. I told her I was going to check the prices at a later date to get a further discount. The agent said this is a policy they offer so as not to penalize people who book ahead, but you have to be pro-active and ask for it.

I had the same situation. I booked a flight to Paris two weeks ago for $782 only to find out two days ago that it dropped to $588. I called AA and they told me that I would be assessed a $200 fee for changing my reservation. Which basically means no savings. Which number did you call?
