Ambassador Hotel In Paris
We are going to Paris in mid October and bringing our 10 year old granddaughter. I am about to make hotel reservations and wonder if anyone has stayed at the Hotel Ambassador in Paris? Cleanliness is very important to me. Please give me your opinions. Thanks.

Yes, I stayed there about three years ago. I really liked it. Now, if you are looking for the little "french" hotel with the wrought iron balcony etc., well it ain't it. It's, well, I guess, more a business class hotel, but it has a warm feel to it. They were remodeling the lobby when I was there and it's really nice. My roon was big by european standards, and my bathroom was HUGE, all done in marble. Had hair dryer etc. I nice size closet for clothes, a desk, a queen size bed. TV had a couple of english channels. I'd turn on the french channels for awhile to hear the language and when my head started hurting, I'd switch to CNN. We had breakfast included and there was a really nice breakfast room off the lobby and they had eggs, meats, cheeses, cereal, fruit, breads, yogurt and other things. It certainly worked for me!!! As far as location: it was only my second trip to Paris so I can't compare to all the other areas but I liked where we were. Lots of cafes and restaurants in the area and just a block over on Blvd. des Italiannes there were more. We were a couple of blocks from Galerie Layfayette and Le Printemps and Bouchera and since shopping is my life it was very convenient. It's a few blocks from the Opera and the Madelleine (SP). We took a tour to Giverney and the pick up was right across the street from the hotel, and the main office for the hop on/hop off bus was a block from the Opera. The hotel was very clean, the staff were English speaking but very willing to help me with my french, and they were very helpful and accommodating. There was alwasy a cab out front..my SIL had severe arthritis in her knees so we used cabs more that a lot of people would. The metro was a couple of blocks down the street toward Galerie Layfayette.
