Amazing Race 10
The teams for the new season have finally been announced and it appears that the producers have finally opted for some cultural diversity in the team make-up.
This season will feature, an East-Indian-American couple from Florida and a pair of muslim friends from Cleveland, as well as a couple from Cali. where one of the pair has a prosthetic leg, a pair of models, a gay couple, a pair of former Miss USA contestants and other family or marriage related pairs and friends.
The show will begin from Seattle and immediately head Westwards to the orient, to include Mongolia and Vietnam, then later on towards Kuwait and Madagascar, in no particular order, and amongst many other countries.
The time has also moved to Sundays at 8.00pm, but I think we already knew that.

This new time slot makes me uncomfortable. That early and on a Sunday seems to me to see if the network can kill the program, based on the sort of people who are fans and who have faithfully watched later on weeknights. We're often gone weekends which could be a problem for us, as this show has to be watched weekly to really be enjoyed (IMHO).
Look forward to seeing it, but don't really see how the "cultural diversity" will improve it. The famuly thing was a disaster. I saw no need to deviate from the usual format then and feel the same now.

The time slot is a killer. And the network surely knows it.
It goes up against extreme makeover home edition, a very popular show which is followed by desperate housewives. And, Sunday evenings are tough anyway, as others have noted.

I believe in Chicago it is also up against the HBO blockbuster sit.comedy shows or Soprano's or Deadwood or the like.
That time slot will kill the Amazing Race following, IMHO- it's primo network shows all across the dial.

Well, I guess I'm the only one cheering for this day and time slot? It will cut in on my reading time - that's usually when I'm curled up with a good book. But I'll give up an hour of reading to "join the race!"
Much better day and time for me! (But then, the running joke among my friends is that my TV will last forever because I never watch it....)

Thanks for the URL. Checked out the new bunch and we'll see what we shall see!
Those of us concerned about the time slot (at least in my case and I think in others) is not the inconvenience for us, but rather concern for the show. If ratings plummet because of this new time, TAR will be no more.

I'm surprised they didn't release another season of the race on DVD this summer. The first one must not have sold well.
I bought the first season and would probably buy the other 3 or 4 races that I never saw.

With the new time slot, it will have to deal with football overruns, which means the show may not start until 8:30 PM. Plus they are going to make me choose between TAR and the FOX cartoons (which I've been watching every Sunday night since 1996).
I remember the Kansas City at Dallas game did not end until around 7:30, and it didn't even go into overtime.
