Amalfi Drive & Pompei

We will be in Naples for one day from a cruise ship on September 5. There are six of us traveling together and we would like to have a van pick us up at the dock and see the above sights. The ship arrives at 7 AM and we would need to be back on the dock by 5 PM. We have already been to Capri and Sorrento and I haven't been to Amalfi for many, many years. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi,

We just got back from that area, and we used a limo (A decent size Mercedes) to get from Naples to our hotel in Positano and also from there to Sorrento. The hotel in Positano had rec. the company if we desired a ride from the airport to the hotel. I have no idea if they have what you are looking for but I have a card with www. & e-mail info:

www.starnet.it/car-service

e-mail: [email protected]

Good luck.

Elsa

I would be very surprised if your cruise ship does not have an optional tour on offer to do the Amalfi Coast/Pompeii trip because most of them do this when in this area of Italy. Four years ago I took a Cunard cruise from Genoa to Hamburg, and when we stopped in this area we were offered a selection of three optional tours, including a full day tour starting in Sorrento, around Amalfi, lunch in Amalfi, then on to Pompeii for the afternoon and back to the ship in time for departure. (I did Amalfi again because one can never get enough of that breathtaking coastline). They also offered other packages included a day on Capri or a day in Sorrento. Before going too far out of your way to make alternative arrangements you might check with your cruise line and see if they have day tours pencilled in that will cover the itinerary you want.

Thank you for your prompt response. We know that the cruise line will have several tours to chose from but we wanted to have the option to be specific about where we spent the day and to avoid the hassle of the big coaches where there are always designated stragglers who hold up the rest of the tour. When we get to Kushadasi, Turkey, we are being met by an air conditioned van for a day-long trip to Ephesus. The cost for this, including lunch, is about half that of the cruise line. For one advantage of taking the cruise tour is that you know the ship will not leave without you.
