Amalfi coast transportation

We will be arriving at Naples airport end of April staying in Sorrento for three nights then to Capri for two nights. After capri to Positano for two nights then to Amalfi for two nights. my question is what is best way to get from Naples airport to Sorrento, Sorrento to Capri, Capri to positano and Positano to Amalfi. We will then need to get to Naples airport from Amalfi. We will be traveling with a suitcase that fits in the overhead of a jet but not sure if bus and ferry allow suitcase or if there is room on the SITA bus for them. Please let me know your experiences with this type of travel.

From the airport you take the Curreri bus to Sorrento (10€).

Sorrento to Capri you would take one of the ferries from the Sorrento port. Same thing for the other coastal towns from Capri, but in April you will still be on reduced schedule and some not operating until June. Yes, you can take your luggage. On the Sita bus you would put it underneath.

Ferries do not run late so make sure you don't miss the last ferry back to Capri if you are staying there. In summer the latest is around 7 or 8 pm, but in April probably won't be that late. For Capri, select your city combos in the drop down box.

From Amalfi to the airport won't be as easy. Transport would depend on how early you need to be there.

FYI - I think you are moving around entirely too much. You will spend much of your time checking in-and-out of hotels instead of sightseeing. I would probably have planned the first two nights on Capri and picked one location for the coast or at most two. Amalfi and Positano are very close together. I don't see the point of switching hotels.

Re: Amalfi and Positano. I agree, pick one. You can very easily reach one from other by ferry or bus.

You might consider doing more of a "loop" - starting in Sorrento and then making Capri your last stop (again choosing either Positano OR Amalfi for the middle portion). It is a quick, direct ferry from Capri to Naples.

Oh, there is plenty of room on either the ferries or the SITA bus (in the luggage compartment) for any amount of luggage you may have. Not an issue.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. most of my trips have been done on the run so I was planning on a slower pace. I might have gone to the other extreme. I am glad to hear that there is room for luggage on the SITA bus. We are meeting friends in Amalfi at the end of our trip, so we will have to get to Naples airport from there. Maybe a car service is our best bet. Thanks again!

You are staying in 4 different hotels in a very small area - and frankly it makes no sense. Staying overnight on Capri is a great idea - since it is very different at night - but you should pick one hotel on the mainland - there is no point in staying in 3 separate hotels that are only 30 minutes or so apart.

Car service is, unfortunately, your best bet. There is no other quick way from Amalfi to Naples airport.

Depending on the departure time of your flight, it MAY be possible to travel from Amalfi to NAP by bus, as follows:

1. Regular SITA bus from Amalfi to Salerno
2. Airport SITA bus from Salerno to NAP (NOT on Sundays)

ALTERNATIVELY:

1. Regular SITA bus from Amalfi to Sorrento
2. Airport Curreri lines bus from Sorrento to NAP (several times daily)

Travel via Salerno is faster than travel via Sorrento, but there are more possibilities routing through Sorrento.

OTHERWISE, use a private transfer service.

Look up the schedules:
