Amalfi Coast restaurants where the Locals eat.
My wife and I will be visiting the Analfi Coast this May, We are interested in small local not so tourit restaurants in or near the following towns. Amalfi, Ravello, Positano and on the Island of Capri. If you have been lucky enough to experience good food at a local restaurant we would appreciate your reccomendations. Menu suggestions would also be welcomed. We will not have a car so we will be using public transportation. Thanks!

In Positano, go down to the dock and wait for the boat with the red fish on it's mast.
A ten minute boat ride transports you to a secluded cove with one of the best seafood restaurants you can imagine. Da Adolfo.
Make a reservation, take the 11:30 boat, bring a towel and spend the afternoon swimming and lounging on the beach after a marvelous lunch. Then take the last boat back - I think it leaves around 4:00.
Truly one of my favorite memories in Positano.
Make sure that you reserve your lounge chairs when you arrive(for a fee).

Don't worry about whether or not you are eating with the locals or with tourists. We've found that if we see people enjoying their meals, and the menu that is posted (and the plates we may be able to see being served) look appealing to us, we generally have a fine meal. The Amalfi Coast is a big tourist destination. You really can't escape the tourists. We had dinner at a restaurant that looked quite touristy, but when they came around to the tables doling out your choice of freshly baked rolls (we totally loved the rosemary ones) we knew we'd found a great meal. The view was gorgeous, the food was wonderful, and we wouldn't have been there if the price had not be totally do-able.

If you truly want to be away from tourists, you might want to venture a bit further afield. A bus ride will take you to Cetara, the best eating town on the coast. I can recommend both Il Convento (very casual) and San Pietro (a bit more upscale). Both are SlowFood members. I had wonderful meals at both and plan to return.
Also, there are several agriturismi in the village of Furore that offer inexpensive, home-cooked meals. I have not eaten in these but have read and heard much about them and they are on my list for an upcoming trip; they include:

The town of Tramonti, near Ravello, is famous as the birthplace of many of the pizza makers in Italy. Sounds to me that it might be worth a visit for pizza or a meal if you are looking to escape tourists and have great local fare.

busted,
I have also had a few good meals at tourist restaurants, I have also had a few not so good meals at tourist restaurants. Asking fellow travelers for their help in locating the off the beaten trail good restaurant where they have experienced good food lessens my chance of the not so good food restaurants.
CUFFLNX,
Thanks for the suggestions I will deffinetly try at least one of your suggestions while in Positano.
eks,
I used your good advise a couple of years ago for our trip to Madrid and Segovia. Cetara and Tramonti may be a nice break from the more popular Amalfi Coast towns, we will try to fit it in to our schedules. Thanks.
