Making a return trip to the Amalfi Coast in June 2016 with spouse. Will have car and spend 4 nights in Amalfi. Request input form Fodorites about additional 2 or 3 night stay in Minori, Maiori (or maybe even Cetara).

Booked room at Hotel Floridiana in Amalfi over lodging in Positano because wife is recuperating from cardiac situation. Feel that fewer steps in Amalfi over Positano will be beneficial, but hopefully by June 2016, her condition will not be problematic.

Wanted to remain in the area but venture out for the remaining 2 or 3 nights to explore the local culture or maybe go "more local". I certainly recognize that I will be a tourist, but desirous of feeling a little more detached from the tourist scene. We enjoy going to the "around the corner" restaurants and frequenting local bars to get the real town feel.

Someone posted that Maiori may be a little larger, but another stated that Maiori is not as pretty. Which has the most charm? If either???

FYI, we are in our 60s, and swimming or sunning on beach is not a factor; however, we love people watching, so we do enjoy sitting at a beachside eatery and/or in a piazza, with beer/cocktail/wine or even coffee.

All comments and suggestions will be appreciated.

Some comments:

As you will have a car, you can spend part of a day at Salerno, not over the top, but has a couple of good pedestrian streets, and you can even visit the greek temples at nearby Paestum.

In Minori, you cant take a look and enjoy a cup of coffee and pastries at Sal de Riso.

Another interesting visit is Vietri sul Mare, with plenty of ceramics to admre and even buy.

And of course, you can go with your car or via bus toRavello, to enjoy the scenery and a good lunch or drink.

Enjoy the paradise at the Amalfi Coast.

Skip Ravello if you want to avoid tourist hotspots. Visit Scala instead - it is right next door to Ravello but still has that sleepy village feel and some gorgeous churches.

But can anyone provide input as to whether Minori or Maiori may be more enjoyable than the other?

I would pick Cetara over either Maiori or Minori. Cetara is totally charming IMO, still quite off the tourist trail, has excellent restaurants, and gives you quick access to Vietri/Salerno/Paestum.

I pretty much just passed through Minori and Maiori and still can't tell them apart. I'd pick based on accommodations because they are very close together.
I spent three lovely days in Cetara. There are excellent restaurants, which was why I chose it. Hotels are less available--I believe just one that would be walkable to town. If you don't mind driving back from dinner, then I recommend http://www.ilglicinebb.it/.
