Amalfi Coast Honeymoon Help

I'll be staying in the Amalfi Coast for my honeymoon for four days in September (six days in Tuscany, two days in Capri, four days in the Amalfi Coast). I was planning on saving our "blow the budget" hotels for the end of our trip but the San Pietro, Santa Caterina, and Palazzo Sasso are all booked! We are looking to stay someplace very special with view and service as our primary considerations and the Miramare and Poseidon have availability for when we are going (though the famed Room 210 is not available at the Miramare). Are these hotel's "honeymoonable" or should I keep looking?
Thanks so much.

We really enjoyed Villa Brunella in Capri and Buca di Baco(room 10) in Positano. Both would be ideal for a honeymoon.Several years ago we stayed at La Suvera in Tuscany. It is breathtaking and very elegant. If you need any other suggestions let me know. Your trip sound wonderful Best wishes!

Hi. Have you checked Le Sirenuse? That seems to be a major place for honeymooners. We stayed at Le Agavi, though I wouldn't recommend it.

HAve you checked Villa Cimbrone in Ravello?
To have those gardens to yourself when the day trippers have had to scurry off would be a marvellous thing.
My wife and I have just returned from the Amalfi Coast on our honeymoon and we enjoyed an excellent meal that last night at Cimbrone, on the terrace looking down towards the lights of Minori and Maiori and the headland of Capo D'orso . Absolutely magical - an evening to remember out of a 3 week honeymoon with more than it's fair share of sybaritic experiences!

Check out the Villa Cimbrone - I don't think it could be bettered even by the Palazzo Sasso!

A jr. suite in Hotel Poseidon is definitely "honeymoonable." The jr. suites have simple decor, enormous bathrooms, and pretty large terraces with sweeping views of town. The hotel itself couldn't be better-- from the suberb staff to the sunning terrace to the amazing food at the restaurant. I'm jealous already! Have a great time!

Thank you for all the information. I had no idea how much trouble I was in on reservations! Le Sirenuse, Villa Cimbrone and the Poseidon are all booked. I'm hoping I can get a room at the Miramare but they won't know until tomorrow if one is available. I'm waiting on confirmation but I believe we can get a suite at the Villa Brunella which looks wonderful - thanks for that suggestion Letah. Any other advice is appreciated (and obviously desperately needed!)

Hi Jaylis, I think you will love Villa Brunella. The owner, Vincenzo, is very helpful and will make any arrangements you need. We thought their restaurant was the best meal we had on Capri, which is unusual as I typically don't enjoy hotel restaurants. We also had great dinners at La Campanina and Al Grottino.Have drinks at the square for great people watching. The island beomes magical after the last ferry leaves.Vincenzo can give you directions for a beautiful but long walk from Villa Jovis to Arco Natarale and Grotta di Matromania. At the end of the walk we had a delicious lunch ar La Fontelina and had a boat pick us up so we could see some grottos. I would highly recommend hiring a boat and driver rather than taking a tourist boat. Be sure to spend an afternoon on Anacapri and see Villa San Michele. Take the chair lift for a breathtaking view. Have lunch at Da Gelsomina and have them pick you up in the square. The walk is longer than I thought and it took about 40 minutes. There are pretty shops in Capri. For cashmere sweaters go to La Farella the day you arrive and they can make anything you want.
In Positano we loved lunch at D'Guaracino and dinner at Da Vincenzo. I did not think the food at La Cambusa was outstanding. It had been featured in Bon Appetite a few months earlier and was full of Americans. It is a bit touristy.
Have a great trip. Post a report so we can hear your favorites.

Wow, just when I thought I was finished I found out that the Villa Brunella only has suites on the lowest floor (only view of the sea is through the trees) or a garden view double room. I believe that Hotel Mamela has availability. Anyone have any experience with this hotel or other suggestions? I'm also thinking of splurging for the Caesar Augustus but I have read not so nice things about their service. Also in Positano EVERYTHING seems booked but I did manage to secure Room 209 at Miramare for my stay. I've read that the room has a small terrace and is right next to the lobby though so I'm less than encouraged about it as our final honeymoon hotel. Wow - who knew it would be this difficult to book in September?

Check out posts by FLUFFY for info on Hotel Mamela. Also check out the HOtel Luna, which is roughly the same price as Brunella, in a great location, and has unbelievable sea views from many of the rooms. There's also the newly renovated Hotel Flora, which is just up the block ( closer to the piazzetta) from Luna, and looks very nice on its website.

Will do Weadles, thank you. Luna, of course, is booked too. I reserved a standard room at the Caesar Augustus so at least I have a back-up either way.

Have you thought about Ravello as a place to stay? Stunning ' eagles nest ' vista and the famous San Michele Hotel ( I think that is its name )which from memory is a 16th Century building . Otherwise keep pushing at the San Pietro . It paid off for me last time when they initially said they had no rooms . It is my favourite hotel on that coast in all respects.

Thanks again for the tips - I now have final trip plans: two nights at Podere Dionora in Montepulciano; three nights at Villa Vignamaggio near Greve; two nights at Caesar Augustus in Capri; and then four nights at the Hotel Marincanto in Positano.

I promise a full trip report on our return!
