Amalfi Coast from a kid's perspective. What things to do?
As the topic says; most of the reviews on AC are from a grown-ups perspective taking in the view, lemons etc...
Any suggestions on what activities would be possible for a 8-yr old kid? I am yet to firm up exact places but Sorrento would be my likely choice of base.
I would be in AC around the 2nd week of June. TIA!

We took our kids many times to Sorrento and the AC when they were smaller. I think Sorrento is a good base for kids because it's flatter and easier to get around than many of the cities on the Amalfi Coast.
Anyway, from Sorrento, you could day trip to Capri and visit the Blue Grotto. My kids loved it, but visits are dependent on the tides. Guests are transferred into tiny rowboats ( you have to lie down) so that you can pass through the narrow entrance of the grotto. Once inside, we were allowed to swim for a few minutes in the water, which turns your body a luminescent blue. Some of the guides who take you in sing chants which echo off the walls. It was quite an experience!
When you're done with that, you could take your son for a cable ride in AnaCapri, or go down to Marina Piccola for some excellent pizza!
Also from Sorrento, you can easily visit Naples and Pompeii. Pompeii can be overwhelming, especially in the heat, so either visit it early in the day, or check to see if they are still offering night tours in the summer months. We did one of these, and my kids loved it. The buildings are all lit up, and at the end of the tour, there was a short film explaining the highlights of Pompeii.
Naples could be fun, too.... It's the birthplace of pizza, there's a castle on the harbor to explore, and you can take a mini-tour around the harbor.

reviving an old thread; Is it possible to do Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius in a single day? We will be visiting Italy around mid-June and have 2 elderly persons who might stay in Pompeii while the young ones climb.
