Amalfi Coast Car/Driver Service (July) -Rome to Ravello on a Budget!

Looking for a car and driver. Amalfi Coast Car/Driver Service (July) -Rome to Ravello on a Budget! Positano Limo Service quoted 500 euros. Is there a cheaper alternative? I read that the busses are packed during the high season in July and we will have our bags with us to Ravello from Rome.

You might try getting a quote of the cost of taxi/driver from Salerno to Ravello, and then figure out the cost of train tickets from Rome to Salerno.

Another possibility might be Rome to Salerno by train, ferry from Salerno to Amalfi, then taxi/driver from Amalfi to Ravello.

PS: One more option might be Rome to Naples train station, taxi to Naples ferry docks, ferry to Amalfi, taxi to Ravello. Not sure if that works, but might be something to check out.

We wanted to go the Sorrento Positano Amalfi Route to see the coast. I found this here:

The only way to go on that road is by taxi or bus. I got the impression you can't afford the taxi, and that you are worried about squeezing onto a bus with your luggage in the middle of summer because of crowds.

How much does the tour bus cost? Less than 500e? Will they let you take your luggage? Maybe that is the answer. Take the tour bus to Amalfi, then take a taxi to Ravello.

Train to Salerno and get a driver from there---about 100E and worth it. Holler if you need drivers.

Okay. So you still have to buy 2 tickets to the Naples train station, so it is more expensive than that.

Here is a limo service which I have personally used and they will pick you up at the Naples train station and take you to Ravello for 110 euros.

http://www.benvenutodriver.com/en/transfer_naples

They speak english, so you can double check with them by e-mail that they will take you to Ravello via Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi. If not, ask them if you meet them in Sorrento if they will take a route through Positano and Amalfi. It is easy for you to get from Naples to Sorrento.

Your train tickets from Rome to Naples will cost you about 12 euros each. .

Is it possible for car services to be much cheaper than a standard taxi rate? For instance, Positano to Naples, taxi is 120 euro. I have some car service quotes that are 95 euro, some as high as 150 euro. Are the ones less than taxi rate banking on getting a return fare as well, thus can offer a cheaper rate?

I know some would say you get what you pay for, but these low quotes are coming from services with good reviews, and their fleet appears to be identical.

Naples has a list of set fees for taxis in town and along the coast (you must ask for this fee and get a receipt before taking off). That's why you see most quotes around the same price. Sometimes you can get a better price by booking a local business on the coast.

Yes, I'd suggest rome to naples train, and then a transfer (roughly 120 euros) from Naples to Ravello. There are many car services available.
