No. I absolutely loved the countryside (Shannon, Dingle, Aran Islands, Waterford, etc.) on the way to Dublin, but was more than ready to get out of Dublin after one day. Nothing "bad" about Dublin, but the Irish countryside is so delightful!

It depends on what you like. If you're not a city person skip it. But if you do enjoy cities at all I would combine it with the counryside - it really does have a lot to offer - even if only for a couple of days.
(I can;t imagine going to Ireland and not seeing the Book of Kells - or taking in a play by Wilde or Shaw.)

For most people, skipping Dublin makes a great deal of sense. It's OK. But its attractions are limited (though the Chrester Barrie museum is unique and wonderful): the Book of Kells is all very splendid, but there's no shortage of illustrated manuscipts elsewhere in Europe, and Dublin theatre is a pretty pale imitation of, for example, London's.
Ireland's South West, OTOH is just gob-smackingly sensational.
BUT if you're going for a "let your hair down" holiday, you must include Dublin. Most of us can't stand Temple Bar and generally recommend most visitors to stay away.
But if you'd enjoy geting utterly wrecked, Dublin's the place to do it: Ireland's beautiful wild countryside really isn't organised for serious (or even half-hearted) sowing of wild oats. Dublin absolutely is - if you can afford the outrageous prices they charge over there for the necessities of life.
