We will be biking through Alsace for 8 days this summer. We want to go to Burgundy for 4 days before we fly out of Paris. We do not want to rent a car. What is the best way to get from Alsace to Beaune? Someone told me we had to take the train back to Paris to get there! That doesn't sound right... Any ideas??

Go to sncf.com and specify your starting and arrival points. It will let you know if in fact you do need to go via Paris, which suggests a station change from the Gare de l'Est to the Gare d'Austerlitz.
That is not true. Train schedules here...try different options from what they give you:

By "suggest" I meant that trains from Strasbourg normally arrive at the Gare de l'Est whereas trains going to Beaune normally leave from the gare de Lyon (correction from Austerlitz). I did not look up the actually itineraries. Maybe the OP will be lucky and find a train that goes from Strasbourg to Besançon and on to Dijon and Beaune.
