Alps travel late October

Jump to last reply

I'm picking up my new BMW in Munich in late October. I plan on driving around in Germany (another thread?) but my bf wants to go to Venice. I'm happy to drive there except for some trepidation I have to drive over the Alps at that time of year.
Anyone experienced with late fall Alps driving? Recommendations? Warnings? (I will be renting winter tires, as per BMW).
Alternatively, I could park my car in Munchen and train or fly to Venice for those three days. No ego involved. But I also think it might be nice for bf to see, for instance, Bolzano ( I've been twice) for lunch, on the way down...
Thanks all.
