All of Spain or something else..?
Hi
So I am travelling to Barcelona for a conference in mid-october. I am cool with extending my trip a few days so that i can travel around.
Now the dilemma is.. should i extend my trip to tour all of spain..
or should i instead choose to travel to amsterdam and belgium.
Cant do both as time doesn't permit. I am so lost..! Help..!
If it helps, I have been to italy, switzerland and paris before so i guess france is out of the question and would add to the confusion...!
anyone has any suggestions pls..!
Cheers
Ashmi

A few days to explore all of Spain is impossible.
The answer to your dilemma is hard to answer too.
You do not say how long you have...what is a few days?
Where to you fly home from?
What attracts you to Amsterdam and the whole of Belgium?
What ideas have you got to visit in Spain?

Unless you have a decade or so to travel, there is no way you can possibly see "all of Spain." And why is France "out of the question?" Because you visited Paris once? France could also take up years of your time.
No one can provide a suitable answer without knowing how much time you actually have to travel, what time of year you'll be there, what your interests are, and how you plan to get around.

If you've never been to Spain, I certainly would take advantage of being in Barcelona and spend my time in Spain.
Why would you want to go elsewhere, you must have a reason and since that can only cost you time and money I would presume you really have no interest in Spain. Otehrwise, it would be obvious to stay there. If that's true, sure, go anywhere.

oh, and another point, if you will be traveling to Europe again to sightsee, I'd take advantage of seeing some part of Spain in October when the weather is nice there as you won't want to visit it in mid-summer in many parts (like Andalucia, too hot). YOu can visit northern Europe in summer with no problems. Unless you never travel in summer anyway.

The OP's phrasing is daft. Perhaps s/he meant "ONLY Spain" v. going to Amsterdam and (for some unknown reason) Belgium.
"ONLY Spain" would make sense. Buggering off across France for the Low Countries in Autumn (and the resulting rains) seems less attractive.

Thanks for your replies
I apologise to be so non-specific but i am new at this forum discussion thing and dint realise my folly.
Yes i did mean, only spain. Of course to a traveller, seeing "all of" sum thing is impossible. What i meant was - should i restrict my travel to spain, or should i instead go to amsterdam and belgium.
I have different group of friends on both sides so that is moot.
I am looking to extend my trip by 8-9 days. so with 5 days of conference, it is about a fortnight.
So yeah..thats about it..

Spain has a lot to offer. A few days in Barcelona, if only for some Gaudí and colleagues. Train to Madrid for museums (Prado and Reina Sofia), and outing to the Escorial. Train to Salamanca, and back to Madrid for flight home.

If you decide to include Amsterdam and/or Belgium, you will lose a great deal of your time to travel. Staying in Spain would make much more effective use of your time. And there is a GREAT deal to see and enjoy in Spain!
