Alhambra - July Afternoon tickets: Audioguide Q + Planning the afternoon

Jump to last reply

Family of four (two teens) visiting in July 2015. After doing a bit of research, I'm considering picking up our tickets downtown at La Tienda-Libreria de la Alhambra Reyes Catolicos Numero 40, and then entering through the Justicia Gate.

Audioguide Question:
I'm having trouble figuring out the location of audioguide rentals. Is there anything near the Justicia entrance, or is it be better to enter through the main entrance pavilion?

General Afternoon Planning:
Bigger picture: We are going to buy afternoon tickets (which went up on the Ticketmaster website today) as we will arrive in Granada shortly around 1pm by bus from Sevilla. We'll taxi to our hotel on Carrera del Darro, check in, and then head out. I am thinking Nasrid entrance time around 4:00-4:30.

In trying to plan ahead for what will be a hot July afternoon, I see our options as this:

1) have a quick bit to eat near the downtown ticket pick-up office (not far from Cathedral), or in/near Plaza Nueva, then bus, taxi or walk up to Justicia Gate.

2) walk/bus/taxi up Cuesta Gomez from Plaza Nueva to main entrance, have a bit to eat maybe at Parador, maybe at Jardines Alberto (or a quick bite around Plaza Nueva first?), go in the main entrance, rent audioguides, view Alcazaba, then Nasrid, then Generalife.

I like the idea of picking up in DT ticket office and going in Justicia entrance - seems simpler - but my only hesitation is the audioguide location.

I would love any feedback on ease/feasibility of these ideas and would also very much welcome other suggestions.

Thanks in advance!
