There is a bus, with three or four transfers, that goes from Alesund to Geiranger: http://www.frammr.no/
Once the information is entered you will get an English answer, but be prepared to guess which box to use to enter your travel information, as the site is in Norwegian.

The travel planner only works a month or two ahead, summer timetable may be different. Use this link for an English version - http://www.frammr.no/Ruter/Resultat?
Ålesund rutebilstasjon to Geiranger ferjekai
You could travel on Hurtigruten from Ålesund to Geiranger (and back). Better would be to take a bus to Hellesylt and then ferry to Geiranger.
From Geiranger take a bus to Åndalsnes which will travel down the Troll road. From Åndalsnes there is a bus to Ålesund.
But note that buses in remote districts like this are never frequent - just one or two a day.
