Airport hotel-FCO - not the HILTON

Has anyone stayed near the airport in a hotel different than the Hilton and more affordable. I find $300 to much for a nights sleep-we need to catch a 6 a.m. flight. Thanks for any help.

If you do a search on this forum with this topic, you will find several answers to your question. I have not stayed at FCO, we always stay in Rome and take an early morning car service ride to the airport, but this topic has been discussed often.

We've stayed at the Sheraton Golf Parco de'Medici and it was fine (and more budget-friendly than the Hilton) - but, their only bus too the airport leaves at 8am....so you would need a taxi...fare is 35-45 Euros depending on the number of people and luggage (the hotel will book it for you)

The FCO property airports are not so good. The town of Fiumicino has many hotels; all are o.k. but the town is interesting. A working fishing town with a few good restaurants. It is literally minutes from the Airport; and there are many options to get to the terminal.

I have used two hotels near Fiumicino. Hotel Club Isola Sacra is very handy and has a shuttle. Also we stayed at the Ostia Antica Park Hotel (I think that was the name)and it was decent too. I think the Isola Sacra is a little closer. You can check Tripadvisor for Ostia and Fiumicino, or just search on those hotel names. Both were reasonably priced.

About 2 years ago I also needed to find convenient and affordable accommodations for an early AM flight out of room. My husband and I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard by FCO.

We also had a rental car to deal with so this is what we did on our last full day:

Upon arrival we checked in at the Courtyard, dropped off our luggage, got the hotel shuttle info and tickets for the return trip that evening. Then we drove our rental car to FCO, returned the car, took the train at FCO to Stazione Termini, spent the afternoon/evening in Rome and then took the shuttle bus back to the Courtyard. And the following morning we took the hotel's shuttle to the airport.

There is a Holiday Inn(business center type) that is very close to FCO that offers bus service into the Rome and also to FCO on a regular basis-just need to let the desk know ahead of time.

We have stayed there periodically when having connection difficulties from Sicily and have never had a problem. I like the fact that they have the bus service into Rome so that we can enjoy a "last evening" there before coming back to the states. The prices have always been been the most reasonable.

There is a Marriott Courtyard 3 km from the airport. Rates begin at 130 Euro to 140 Euro per night.

It also offers shuttle service to the airport for 7 Euro

Try www.airportbookings.com.

The site shows traveller rating, distance from the airport and rates. A couple of the hotels are also reviewed on www.tripadvisor.com.
