Airport - Brive Vallee de la Dordogne open - sort of.
The new airport at Brive, serving the Dordogne is finally open, with limited service.
There are flights to Orly 3 times a day Monday to Friday, one on Sunday, with Airlinair http://www.airlinair.com/fr/index.php
One flight a day Friday, Saturday and Sunday to London CIty with Cityjet (3 miles from Canary Wharf) http://www.cityjet.com/
Construction is not yet complete - parking is free while they finish the parking lot! So far there don't seem to be any car rental agencies, but if you rent from a Brive agency they may deliver to the airport - it's worth asking.
Apparently some other low cost airlines are considering service to this airport. Unlikely this year, but perhaps next year.
Anyway, it's a start. It's certainly a convenient entry to the Dordogne. Note that this is NOT Brive Laroche, the old airport.

Since a number of people are already starting to plan for next year, I thought I would bring this up again. Hard to know at this time who will be providing service through Brive, but it's worth checking over the next few months.

Good to know. Thanks! Sometimes airfare is cheaper than the train, even it takes almost as long. And from Brive it looks like the choices are Dublin, Edinburgh, Dundee and London City (on Cityjet at least).

Michael. I don't think it is any better than the train yet. In fact if you are in Paris, definitely the train is easier. The point is that in the future you may get cheap flights from British airports to Brive (like Ryanair, Flybe, etc, who currently fly into Bergerac)

Not sure where you got all those destinations - in fact right now it's London or Paris. Unless you mean that once you get to London you can transfer to a Dublin, etc. flight.
