Trying to help friends that are going to Brussels from L.A.
What would be the BEST airline for them ? Thanks

Delta seems to usually have decent prices to Brussels out of Atlanta. They also fly JFK/BRU.

Have you checked with Kayak.com or Vayama.com? I'd say most major airlines running similar routes will be within a couple hundred bucks of each other. The trick is to find the best flight with the best connections and/or layover.

check out matrix/ITA software (owned by google). They give all flight options with easy to see layover durations, etc. for all airlines (used by travel agents). Once you find the flight times you want at the price you want, go to the airline website and purchase. I don't think you can find cheaper on any of the airline search engines. This software has a really easy layout that puts all other airline software in the shade and always shows the lowest prices--they can change several times a day however. My tip (I am going LAX to Venice by way of Amsterdam on a Delta code share) is to check between Tues and Thursday on Matrix/ITA for the cheapest prices. Look at the help menu so you can find all the different ways to search (color bars for the flight length/layover time, etc. very helpful). Good luck. Air France is also part of Delta code share.

How are we defining "best?" Cheapest, quickest, comfort, etc? Depending on the dates the cheapest options will probably be either a onestop on Delta/Air France or a onestop on United/Brussels Airlines as BRU is a Star Alliance hub.
