Airline Fares How Low???

I've been watching the fares from Bos to Italy for Oct/Nov 2006 and AirFrance had a great deal that would cost about 600. Just now came across an Alitalia rate of 535 on Kayak. Do you think Air France will match and reduce its fare? I HATE traveling on Alitalia, but like to get the lowest fare I can. Any guesses on how low the fares will go?

Are there any "catches" on the kayak fare? (like no FF miles, for example)?

The AF sale is not likely to result in any lower fares on AF, as they have have undercut so many other carriers in lots of markets. The Alitalia sale is a (limited) match of the AF sale, so if it worls better for you, then you should take it if it is a better price/routing/schedule match to your needs.

Will Iberia, BA or Lufthansa match? Hard to tell.

Best wishes,

Rex

These days if you happen upon a good fare to you just take it. No one knows if any other sales will come up or not in future-they may or may not.

Hi ri,

Considering how much you will send on this trip, is $65 a major expense?

If you do go AF, be prepared to experience a lengthy separation from your luggage. Maybe I just have bad luck, but we have flown AF a few times now (less than ten, more than two) and the bags have never made the connection in Paris. Coming back to Boston from Pisa in April, none of the passengers' bags made the connection.

Are you including taxes (which can run up to $250) in your prices? Anything under $650 WITH TAXES is great. We are paying $667 rt total in September BOS-BLQ using a consolidator.
