Airfare to Ireland?
I am planning a trip for very late may and the month of June to Ireland from Boston. I found an airfare of $514 (USD) on Aer Lingus using Expedia. Will it get much lower? I've heard that fares drop in January, but I was hoping to give the tickets as a Christmas gift, and I'm not sure they'll drop much more. Should I wait or book now? Thanks so much!
Erin

In addition to using sites like Expedia and Travelocity, try www.qixo.com.

You might want to try Sceptre Tours at 800/221-0924. They are offering air from Boston and car for 399.00 and then for 499.00 air, hotel and tour for 4 nights. That's advertised thru Feb and then the prices go up, you might want to see how far up they go for May.

try their website www.aerlingus.ie

sometimes individual airlines offer good deals if you order directly from them on the web

Also, look for r/t London or Birmingham or Manchester, then easyjet or ryanair or buzz(something) for r/t to an Irish city.

Airfares for travel this Winter will be lowest in January, but fares go back up again on April 1, and yet again in mid-Jun--up to "peak" season pricing. Last year, O'Connors had a special for May at only $375+tax roundtrip, but only from JFK I believe. Their website highlights sales and charter flights to Ireland quite well, so maybe check it often. www.oconnors.com

That's not a bad fare for May/June, assuming that includes tax. You may be able to do somewhat better in June, as Aer Lingus always has sales. However, those sales also sell out really quickly, so if you really want to be sure of the dates, go ahead with $514. Unless, of course, that doesn't include taxes, in which case you can do a lot better.

Ann,

The other option is Aer Lingus from Washington to Dublin, and a fly/drive/train up to Belfast - only a couple of hours on the train. OR... British Midland from Washington to Manchester, and then a hop across - much easier than having to negotiate Heathrow!!

Hope that helps (a bit anyway)
