And SNCF is having a sale, too. Two of us can get from Paris to Libourne and back in first class for 80 euros! Something's wrong - I never get this lucky!

No, three weeks. Going with a posse of friends to clean up/clean out my house in the Dordogne and light a fire under my notaire so I can sell the house there and buy one in/near La Rochelle. French Property Adventure Number Two. Anyone who wants to join up, just let me know.

I got tickets a month ago, for the first week of December, and at the time I was pleased with a little over a grand nonstop.

Under 900 woulda been better yet!

I had been checking Air France every day for a month, watching for the premium voyager class to drop from $3000 to below $1000.
I finally found one day when it was $819 on a Wednesday. Grabbed it. And it hasn't gone back to that again! My return flight has no premium voyager fares at that price yet, but it's not too hard to upgrade to an exit row seat on the way back. I find the Premium Voyager fare to be well worth the extra $200-$300 for comfort...larger seats with good reclining, smaller cabin, real pillows and blankets, a much nicer experience. If you don't want to pay the extra, you can get AF economy flights from SFO to Paris for around $1000 now. It pays to watch every day and be flexible with your dates.

Try googling Air France late summer sale fares. You have to buy your tickets by Wednesday, July 25 (two days from now) and you can travel until October 31. Can't spend more than a month, can't go for less than two days.

If you can't find it, I can try cutting and pasting the AF email I got about it here.

Thanks, StCirq, but we don't plan to go until 2013.

StCirq, if you would cut and paste here, I'd appreciate it. I saw the lower prices on ITA and didn't realize it was a sale with an ending date. And so soon!

Thanks. I had checked the AF website and didn't find anything this specific. Now we have to make up our tiny minds.

>>>I saw the lower prices on ITA and didn't realize it was a sale with an ending date. And so soon!<<<

All airfare sales have ending dates (and travel date restrictions). The cheapest fares disappear before that as people jump on the sale.

kybourbon, this price is what turned up on ITA when we plugged in possible dates in September, with no explanation that it was a sale price. I didn't realize that till I saw StCirq's post here.

We should wait till 7/26 to decide but the expiration date forces our hand.

AF sent me a "super offer" for my flight back on Saturday -- upgrade to first class for a mere extra 1,500 euro per person. Now, if it was 200 per person, I would take it! (We're in business -- they didn't make the same offer to my sister in lowly econ).

The term sale doesn't really mean that much, any price can change at a certain date and will. Airfares aren't constant, so you can assume they may change next week or next month, even if they don't call them a sale. So even if they didn't call it a sale, it could have been gone by 7/26, that happens all the time when they raise the fares because sales are better than they thought, or a certain discounted seat sells out and only the more expensive ones are left.
