I am looking for an agriturismo in the Tuscany region to spend a week. I will be heading there tomorrow or Saturday. We are a couple in our 30's and enjoy food, wine, and activities during the day. I'm looking for a place preferably in the Montalcino or Montepulciano region. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I have stayed at Fonte Bertusi 5 times and plan to return. The location is perfect- beautiful views, 3 km from Pienza, easy access for day trips. The owners are very nice and the property well maintained.

Thanks Zoecat for all the info. I emailed a bunch of places and got a reply from Podere le Manzinaie that they have availability. The problem I'm facing is that it's such short notice. I'm in Italy for 7 weeks, Europe for 6 months, and I'm sort of doing things "on the fly". I wanted to stay at Cretaiole but the are booked. Any experiences with Podere le Manzinaie?

Zoecat, I second LaFoce – haven’t stayed there but have read sooooo much about it. The estate was developed by an Anglo-American heiress Iris Irigo and her Italian aristocrat husband in the 20s, transformed from a feudal fiefdom to a thriving agricultural enterprise, survived the horrors of WWII in Italy, and later made into an elegant agriturismo by their daughters. Suggest reading IRIS IRIGO by Caroline Moorehead it you do head that way. But, then again, you can’t go wrong in Tuscany. Enjoy!

I'm not familiar with Podere le Manzinaie, but I did look at the location. I would not stay there- it's not well located unless I wanted to explore some of Umbria as well. I prefer the area further west and closer to Montepulciano/Pienza and the Val d'Orcia.
