Affordable weekly rental South France

Hello
My fiance and I are looking for an affordable weekly rental that we will use for home-base while honeymooning in France. We would like it to be somewhere in the South or Southeast because we plan to take day trips to vineyards and the Mediterranean. My fiance is still in graduate school, and I just finished grad school a couple of years ago, so we are on somewhat of a tight budget. Any suggestions???? Thanks!!!

You can get such good value by taking a self catering apartment for a 7 day period especially if it is out of season. There is a company called Odalys which has many different holiday apartments all over France. The web site is www.odalys-vacances.fr

Staying at a gite in the South of France can be very economical if you will have a car. Do a seach of gites on Fodor's talk or go to www.gites-de-france.fr We have stayed in gites throughout France and love them. Have a great time. Deborah

The prime vineyards are in the Rhône Valley and south rather than in southeastern Provence (the area around Nice). Start your search in that region and you should have many possibilities for rentals.

Since you plan to take day trips to the Mediterranean,, you might consider basing yourselves somewhere between Cassis and Carpentras. Cassis is home to a number of good vineyards and a nice beach, and just above Carpentras lie Beaume-de-Venise, Gigondas, and Vacqueras, with Châteauneuf-du-Pape to the west.
