Advice requested - Planning 9-10 day Southern Spain itinerary!

Hi all!

My boyfriend and I are planning a 9-10 day itinerary of Southern Spain and want to visit the following areas:

Sevilla
Cordoba
Granada (1 day - Alhambra)
White Towns (maybe)
Ronda (maybe)
End the trip - Malaga or Marbella?

We are happy to take the train or get a driver (we'd prefer not to drive since we're from the U.S.), but we want to stay at 2 hotels if at all possible (thinking Sevilla and Malaga or Marbella as the two bases) - maximum 3 hotels.

I'm thinking of starting off in Sevilla and exploring Cordoba as a day trip, then relocating to Malaga or Marbella and visiting Granada and Ronda and/or White Towns depending on if we're up for it.

Thoughts? Does anyone have any suggestions or tips? Are there any particular one-day trips that many small group tour companies run?

Thank you so much in advance!

While I much prefer Granada to Ronda and especially Marbella it can be done as a daytrip from Malaga and I'm sure there are many companies that can arrange everything from there.
Seville might be the best part of your trip and it deserves three to four nights from which you can make a great daytrip to Cordoba. I think Malaga is more interesting than Marbella and I would rather use it as a base. Marbella does have a quaint old town and you can see a lot of yachts and Ferraris in Puerto Banus if that's your thing.

Assuming you are able to get connecting flights directly into Andalucia I'd budget 5 nights for Sevilla. With 5 nights, after recovering from jetlag, you should be able to do one daytrip and perhaps 2. I'd definately visit Cordoba (train). My other too Daytrips - Carmona, Cadiz, Jerez. Personally I'd spend 2 nights in Granada as it's beautiful at night and alot to do as a daytrip. That would leave roughly 3 nights, assuming you don't need to get to Madrid on your final night. I'd probably base myself for 3 nights in Malaga using it as a base to visit Ronda (which can also be visited from Sevilla ) and perhaps Nerja or Antequera. If you prefer you could do a daytrip to Granada from Malaga.

There's lots of ways you could do this trip if you want as most 2-3 overnights. There's no need for a car and it would be a hassle in the cities anyways. A car would be nice if you wanted to explore in detail the white villages but you can easily visit Ronda and the larger cities by bus from your base cities. Personally I'd heavily weigh my nights in Sevilla as I prefer the Daytrip opportunities from Sevilla and I'm biased towards Sevilla.

What time of year is this trip? This would really weigh in my decision on how to space the days especially if there are festivals and such in the area.
