Advice on Scotland Trip
I am traveling to London in month of May with my husband and daughter (10 years). I have through various advices received on Fordors firmed up my plan for London and some day trips from there. I need to finalise the last bit which is my trip to Scotland, I plan to spend about 3 days there.
What I had in mind was to stay at Edinburgh and take day trips through Scot Line Tours.
Day 1 : Explore Edinburgh and at night was planning to visit the Jamie's Scottish Evening (If you know of something similar, please suggest)
Day 2 : Loch Ness, Glencoe & The Highlands
Day 3 : The Whiskey Experience and then return to London in the night.
What do you suggest :
- Is this ok?
- Or rather than tours should I hire a car and move around. Or should I use the public transport, in that case should I pick a Eurail pass for Scotland?
- Should I spend all the 3 days in Edinburgh or go to Glasgow or any other place?
- Any suggestions on where to stay. I am looking at accomadation for about GBP 100.

We were in Scotland two years ago and LOVED it. We stayed in Edinburgh for three full days and walked most everywhere. It is a great walking city. We then rented a car and drove north. My husband was very comfortable driving on the 'other side' of the road. It was great to drive ourselves as we could stop where and when we wanted to.

I think you'll find that doable but tiring.
I can let you have some notes on Edinburgh if you want to email me.
For one day out of Edinburgh, do not hire a car.
You could easily spend the whole time there and not scratch the surface.

this website will give you lots of info on what to se and do.
The Jamies Evening is a good fun event but a very touroist version of Scotland, there is a similar thing done at the Prestonfield house Hotel but the Jamies evening is right in the center of town.

this website is great for finding B&B accommodation but there are very few B&B's right in the city center, however there are loads withing a mile or so and Edinburgh has a superb public transport system that gets you to and from the center fairly quickly
