Advice on scenic Swiss drive from Bulle to Montreux
I'm helping my parents plan a trip through Switzerland in May. I'm trying to get them a bit off the beaten path since the 2nd week of their trip is a cruise. I was looking for a fun drive from Interlaken to Montreux by way of Bulle and have a question about the 2nd half of the trip. I've used Google Earth before to find fun drives but it sometimes sends you down dirt roads or worse. Can anyone vouch for the following drive:
Bulle
Epagny
Bas-Intyamon
Haut-Intyamon
Rossiniere
Les Moulins
Letivaz
La Lecherette
Plan du Melley
Corbeyrier
Vers Cort
Vers-Morey
Yvorne
then back up the valley to Montreux
All in all it's about 45 miles and appears to be a beautiful drive over the mountains instead of simply going the A12/E27 route.
Is this the route I'm hoping for or a cow path that GE has picked up as a fun drive?
Thanks

Forget the part La Lecherette - Yvorne. It is a carriageway. Your parents should follow road #11 across Col des Mosses, Le Sepey, down to the Rhone Valley. And I would definitely include a visit of Aigle with its castle.
Btw, at the end it is 'down the valley to Montreux'.

What do you mean by carriageway? From what I can find carriageway means large road unless I'm misunderstanding the term. On Google Earth that part looks like a very windy small road over the mountains...which looks like fun to me.
Sorry for confusion...thanks for the reply.

Ah...good point. Thanks for your advice on this.
Is there any way to get from Bulle to Montreux without using Road #12 to the north or Road #11 to the south? Is there something between them over the mountains? What would be the most scenic way to get from Bulle to Montreux? My dad likes mountain roads as long as they are paved.
Thanks again.

No, there is no other road between Bulle and Montreux. The mountains inbetween both towns are quite steep and only hiking paths and unpaved, narrow streets go up to the mountain huts etc. The most scenic option is the train ;-) It runs through a tunnel, and before and especially after the tunnel, approaching Montreux the views are awesome.
Road #12 is not very scenic most of the way. BUT - at one point you reach the southern slopes of Mt. Pelerin and have gorgeous views of Lake Geneva, the vineyards and the mountains in the background. Of course, these views can be enjoyed later from Montreux as well.
#11 is very scenic. Especially between Chateau d'Oex and Ormont-Dessous. L'Etivaz e.g. is a good stop for picnic - they make cheese there. yummy. Maybe your parents find enough time to make a gondola ride up to P. Chaussy from the pass Col des Mosses. Wonderful views.

Wekiva,
The ride along the autoroute or highway to Montreaux is spectacular. You don't need to find back roads. On a clear day, you have a view of Lake Geneva and the French Alps....spectacular!!! Or you can get off the autoroute to the lake road, which is closer to the lake (obviously!). The view of the mountains and lake is not necessarily better from this road, but you pass through some lovely villages.
