Advice on our 5 day Itineraries we've come up with for Iceland

Jump to last reply

Right I’ve been doing some research for our trip booked for mid-October for 6 nights. We will be driving ourselves and just get a basic 2 wheel drive car which from what I’ve read is perfectly adequate for the roads we will be going on.

Day 1 - Arrive about 8.30am, pick the car up from the airport

Chill out and explore Reykjavik

Day 2 – Up and out early to do the golden circle stopping over in Selfoss town for the evening

Day 3 – Selfoss to Jokulsarlon stay over. Do a boat tour either when we get there or first thing in the morning

Day 4 – Jokulsarlon back to Reykjavik hopefully in time to visit the Blue Lagoon

Day 5 – Head up to Snaefellsnesvegur for the day and back to Reykjavik

Day 6 – drop car off and get flight at 10am

Alternative

Day 1 - Arrive about 8.30am, pick the car up from the airport and do the golden circle back to Reykjavik to do some exploring

Day 2 – Selfoss to Jokulsarlon stay over. Do a boat tour either when we get there or first thing in the morning

Day 3 – Jokulsarlon back to Reykjavik

Day 4 – Reykjavik to Snaefellsnesvegur staying over there somewhere

Day 5 – Snaefellsnesvegur working way back to Blue Lagoon for the afternoon

Day 6 – drop car off and get flight at 10am

What’s your thoughts, what would you change?

Are pushing ourselves too much any days?

Is it worth going all that way out to Jokulsarlon for the iceberg lake?
