Advice on Edinburgh hotel=

Hello, I've looked at TA, etc but always like Fodorites' recommendations.

Looking for hotel close to Holyrood Palace end of Royal Mile, under £120, with breakfast included (don't reprimand me please.)

Not interested in B&Bs or boutique.

Holiday Inn Express Royal Mile is a strong possibility, but I'm interested in other opinions.
Thank You.

try Jury's Inn , nearer the train station but not far to walk to Holyrood Palace, there is also a Travelodge almost next door to the HIE.the nearest hotel to Holyrood palace is a McDonalds Hotel but that will be way over your Budget but have a look and you never Know.
There is a Radisson Blue at the top end of the lower part of the Royal mile that might come in your budget and there are 2 Ibis hotels nearby that you could also consider.

Use Booking.com to shortlist those you like the look of (you can sort by price), then cross reference with TA to triage down to a winner.

I understand why someone would normally want personal recommendations, but you seem to be limiting yourself largely to well known/predictable corporate chains and dismissing boutique options/B&B with the personal touch so can't really see that there's much we can tell you that you won't already know from the corporate websites and TA.

We really liked the Royal Mile Holiday Inn Express. It was very convenient, and the breakfast wasn't bad. The staff was wonderful.

We stayed at the Jury's Inn and loved the location. Our stay was ages ago, so definitely check recent reviews. It was fine for us when we were there. We had two young children with us, so the location was especially nice for the times that we needed to go back to the room a time or two during the day. We never felt like it was out of the way to go back.

Hello, I'm just posting to say we had a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn Express Royal Mile. Modestly priced, clean, just one block off the RM, breakfast was fine. Thank you to those above for their advice. (We booked directly with the hotel and paid around $100 nightly.)

Glad you liked it, too. How long was your visit, and how did you like Scotland?

Thanks for your interest, Carolyn + Unclegus. There was nothing extraordinary about our visit but we loved it.

We had four days:
-Toured the Scottish Parliament
-Saw a Vermeer at Queen's Gallery
-Worked our way thru Holyrood Palace
-Toured the Britannia, at Leith
-Visited Edinburgh Castle
-Walked for miles
-Lost one umbrella to brutal wind
-Ate pub food
-Absolutely no shopping!

Thank you.
