Advance purchasing before arriving to Paris

We are going to Paris in June. I need to find out what I can purchase in advance prior to the Paris arrival....museum passes? Bateau tickets? Anything?

I am trying to avoid lines and pay for things in advance.

Thanks!

museum passes are cheaper right at any museum otherwise you'll pay a sizeable surcharge and perhaps mailing fee.
Bateaux mouche tickets are a snap to get at the dock - no hassle no wait usually.
Can think of nothing transport wise or museum wise that's not better to buy in Paris - Paris Visite included - not only not best option for many but significantly higher here.
Relax

The only thing we purchased before hand were our train tickets to Caen and the package at the Memorial museum at Caen/half day tour of the d-day beaches. Did it all online.

The last time I looked at the web site, Vedettes de Paris were offering a 10% off coupon for booking on line. But I think the coupon could be used on site also, so it wouldn't really matter when you bought the tickets.

Most hotels and the tourist office also have discount coupons for the vedettes.

If you want to see an opera or ballet at the Garnier, I'd suggest purchasing those in advance through the Paris Opera web site.

Do you have any excursions outside of Paris planned? If you are going on to Dijon, Avignon etc., and you know your travel dates you can save some money by booking ahead.

I just wanted to share that if you are going to Versailles, there is a tiny tourist office around the corner from the McDonalds (mon dieu) that had no lines when I went in June 2003. If you are planning to visit Versailles, you might want to consider purchasing your museum pass there. I bought my museum pass there and avoided the crowds. Have a great trip!

You can purchase most of musuem tickets and the Bateux Parisien cruise right in Paris but June can be busy for the museums especially the Louvre. I would pay for the museum tickets in advance and just wait for the cruise until you arrive. You can do the cruise anytime during your stay. June will be perfect time to be in Paris. Good Luck and have a great time.
