Adjoining Rooms in Rome?
Hi. I am traveling to Rome over New Years with my husband and three children (ages 14,11,7) and am hoping to find a hotel with two adjoining rooms. We would prefer that to an apartment, unless the appartment came with a concierge. Any suggestions?

In my experience, adjoining room remained only a feeble request. No hotels ever guaranteed availability at the time of booking or delivered adjoining rooms at arrival. An apartment offers certainty in this respect. I have stayed in a tiny inn where only rooms available were two rooms on the third floor. While they were not adjoining, our children slept in their room across a narrow corridor.

We have stayed in hotels where our rooms were close on the same floor when our kids were even younger than yours. Once next door, and once across the hall. With a 14 year old in the mix, I think that would be fine?

There are a number of hotels in Rome that have serviced apartments they manage in the vicinity of the hotel. Two that come to mind are the Hotel Campo dei Fiori and the Hotel Mozart. I've never stayed at either, but have read favorable comments about both on TripAdvisor. These give you the best of both worlds: the privacy and space of an apartment and the services of a hotel.

Thank you all for your input bvienci, Dukey1, MonicaRichards, and greg . I booked us at Hotel Campo di Fiori and they said they could provide two rooms next to each other. I agree - the kids will be fine right next door.

Pak0five - we are a family of five also and I feel your pain. It can be tough.
When our kids were younger than yours, we had to divide and conquer. I'd sleep in one room with a couple of them and DH would take the other. It was not ideal, but you do what you have to do.
bvlenci gave very good advice - check for hotels with family suites or family apartments.
