I will be in Croatia in late May and early June and need recommendations for a reasonable place to stay in the old city. The Villa Adriatica, which many people seem like here, is booked. Thanks in advance for other, similar suggestions

This place is right across the street from the Villa Adriatica and just outside the Ploce gate of the Old Town: www.dubrovnikbedandbreakfast.com/

We stayed within the walls in an apartment off the Stradun. It was called Magical Apartment. It was in a perfect location and it was so nice to have a little apartment rather than a hotel room! You should be able to find it by googling.
There are plenty of small places to stay including studios and apartments and they are good value for money and you get a much more personal service, amazing where we stayed all over they provided great breakfasts, better than large hotels.
