Accademia in Florence

Accademia in Florence
Hi Everyone - I am trying to figure out how much time I will need to see the Accademia in Florence. I am not a huge art hound, so unless everything is really amazing, I will probably be a typical tourist and see the David, walk around a little and head out. On the day that I am planning to go, I have a walking tour that ends at 12:30 (a 15 min walk from the Accademia). I was going to make reservations at 1:30 for the Accademia and 3:30 for the Uffizi. The Uffizi closes at 6:50, so I am hoping this gives me enough time to see everything sufficiently. Can anyone provide any advice? Thanks!! Laura

Hi Ima,
Sounds as if you are planning a daytrip, no?
If so, I urge you to make it an overnight.
You can do the Accademia in about 15 min. See the David, take a quick pic, see the Captives (on the corridor to the David), walk out.
Aren't you going to stop and have some lunch and people watch between your tour and the David?

On our most recent trip to Florence, my fourth, we spent about 30 minutes viewing the David and about 20 looking around the Accademia. I realize 30 minutes seems like a long time but it is an amazing work of art. Each time I see it, I am thrilled. And it is fun and interesting to watch the others viewing the statue and hear their comments.

Your day will be very full, but it is doable. If you are running late, you can always take a taxi.
The Accademia is relatively small...we spent about an hour there. You can literally spend the entire day at the Uffizi, but three hours is a good start. If you look at their Web site, http://www.uffizi.firenze.it/, you might get a better idea of what is there which might help you decide which galleries to head to first.
You will probably need something to eat at some point. The Uffizi actually has a typical museum lunch spot which is fine if you are short of time. We ate there which enabled us to spend more time in the museum.
