AARP-Expedia Travel Services R/T Roma and back

I am not a travel agent and I do not have anything to gain, but good news deserves to be shared.

A few months ago we rejoined AARP , was browsing their members benefit section, and found the AARP-Expedia website. I entered some dates for r/t from home to Roma with one stop each way and back plus a hotel. I was in shock with the price for both items. The price on Delta and two nights in a highly rated hotel near the Spanish Steps came to a total of $870 per person. I was dumbfounded, to say the least. Not believing this price I did not book that day. The next day I went back and the price was the same and we booked. The resulting receipt indicated paid in full. Still skeptical, I went to my Delta account and found the trip in my section. We selected our seats for all of the flights and we will go when the date arrives.

I hope others can take advantage of tis, as well.

Buon viaggio,

You didn't list cities, but there was a fare a few days ago (AA and DL) in the $380 r/t ai range.

Be aware that if anything happens, like a change of plans or a flight delay, you'll need to go through AARP-Expedia, not Delta.

Not necessarily, he said he found the trip in his Delta account section.

It may be a good deal for AARP members, but as noted, it probably as just a fluke that you hit it when good deals are out there. It might have been 10 pct off, I know AAA discounts on some hotels and car rentals are about that rate, and in fact AAA discounts often are the same as AARP/senior discounts.

but sounds like a great price, no matter when you go

I was able to choose from airlines and there was a huge selection of hotels to choose from. We travel in Italy every year and are very familiar with Roma. Generally, we stay in a gorgeous b&b in the Esquilino section near the opera house on Via Viminale. The name of the b&b is Armonio Al' Opera and we highly recommend it. This time we wanted to stay in a different section of the city. The owner is Paolo and he is a great host. Additionally, one of my favorite restaurants is located downstairs from this property and it's La Matriciana.

Since we always fly on Delta and could choose our seats, so far, it seems legit. I'll report back after October.

Buon viaggio,
