Aalsmeer, Holland Flower Market Is a Changing but...

still a unique easy day trip from Amsterdam to the world's largest flower auction/market as tiny Holland surprisingly still produces a good % of the world's cut flowers - you can see lots of action on the floor from visitor catwalks and see the large clock of the auctioneer.

You can take buses there from Amsterdam or nearby Schiphol Airport, a conduit for many of the flowers being sent by plane all around the world.

Visits are only in the morning -worth it anyway only until the auction action dies down well before noon - I got there about 10 am and everything was still in full swimg.
