BA is on strike, there are some flights in an out...
http://www.britishairways.com/travel/strike-ballot-2/public/en_us
from the BBC:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8577573.stm
(and check other UK papers: Independent, Guardian, Times, etc.)
If you're asking if American Airlines is going to strike, don't know about that--hadn't read anything about them.
If you mean BA, hope you bought travel insurance....
The last time the AA flight attendants went on strike they had such cohesion that it crushed the company's operation. Management knows this and if there is a strike, I doubt it will be a lengthy one.
dsevig: My apologies, you are right, AA workers have asked the National Mediation Board for permission to call an end to talks. The AA ground crews made the same request last week.
Since the board hasn't replied to the other union, they may delay responding to the flight attendants as well.
Keep those fingers crossed....when were you due to fly back?
and to add to the mix, no flights via Iceland because their volano is acting up...what next!
Air France attendants are also likely to strike, though that will mostly affect short haul flights.
And no doubt the French air traffic control will come up with another reason to join in the fun.
flight back is May 15! Maybe short enough! lets hope! Dale
Came across this site which could be useful for you as well:

I am very concerned, too, about the AA attendants. We are due to fly out of DFW on 4/20 for Rome, via New York, on AA. Returning on AA from Rome-Chicago-DFW in early May.
sfgirl, that site is helpful: http://goneonstrike.com/ and nudged me into buying trip insurance for the first time, ever. (Though, for pre-paid hotels with no flex, not flights.) Our flights next month are with AA and BA, using AA frequent flyer miles ... oh, I'll be real high on the priority list of people to be accommodated if flights are cancelled ...
Thanks for the update and the website. I am very concerned 4 family members are joining me in Paris in May. They are booked on AMERICAN AIR.
Wish there were good answers, but have been concerned about this for some time, which is why we opted to fly other carriers than BA & AA. Hoping neither of the ones we're booked on decide to follow suit.
Just a warning.
Once the strike is "announced" then most insurance carriers will not cover you on travel insurance. So if you buying now due to BA, AA, Luftansa, Air France etc... I would make very sure it's covered.
CarolA: My AA and BA flights are frequent flyer miles, so there's nothing to recover there ... but I'm hoping that the trip insurance would still kick in for the pre-paid non-refundable hotels. I'll certainly check; thanks for the heads-up.
spoke to an AA reservationists today and she and another said don't worry - long time off for any strike action!! she may not have the most info or authority but atleast was positive!
contrary to one site that said ground people in 30 day cooling off period! then could strike!
who knows but confident we will be going and coming as booked!
A summer in France wouldn't be hard to take anyway!!
