A week in the Loire Valley

More than two dozen trips to l'Hexagone, and not a single step into this fabled chateau country? Time to rectify that omission! As with my earlier reports, this one is done in phototravelogue style, where the written trip details are integrated into the photo albums. (If the captions do not automatically appear in the Google Photos albums, just click on the "i" in the white circle to get them started.) Here are the details, in order of the places visited.

Beautiful shots. Angers is the only one I missed, but someday I will return. Loved the city.

I've been trying to decide between going to the Dordogne or the Loire valley in May. I finally decided on the Dordogne, but now you've posted these beautiful pictures and my wavering has begun.

these are lovely. Loire Valley has been on my list for a long time, and now after seeing your pictures, it's moved up a couple spots.

Yes like a return trip to a place I love - too bad the Loire Valley ain't IMO as dreamy as its castles and towns. Rather boring countryside, at least from the seat of a bike.

Great photos!

I've always considered the Loire Valley to be briefly interesting on my way to other places.

However, I really liked spending a night in Blois, and as far as I'm concerned, Chambord and Chenonceau never disappoint.

topeater, you made the right choice. There is absolutely no comparison between the scenery of the Loire and that of the Dordogne.
