Hi All! I just got back from an amazing weekend in Northern Ireland. I flew from London to Belfast and spent all day Saturday on a tour of the coast. We drove along the Causeway Coastal Route, which is similar in beauty to California's Highway 1, and saw Carrickfergus Castle, Dunluce Castle, the famous Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge, the Giant's Causeway, and Bushmills, which is the oldest whisky distillery in the world with a license. It was an amazing trip and the drive was one of the most scenic I've seen on my travels. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ireland. I wrote about it in my blog if you want to read more details and see photos: http://www.aladyinlondon.com/2012/01/northern-ireland-tour.html.

Flytheworld, what a lovely snapshot of a fantastic day! We stayed in Cushendall (along the Antrim Coast) for the first three nights of our trip in May 2011. We did most of the coast in one day, and saw all the sites you went to. However, having done my trip in May, we had much more time to see stuff, due to late days!
I noticed one of your pics was of the cliffs at Carrick-a-Rede - I have the same pic! http://www.greendragonartist.com/Galleries/Small%20Images/Ireland2011/Cush372.jpg
Yay! Can't wait to check out...planning Northern Ireland trip in the coming year or two... Thank you for sharing!
Looks like you had a great trip, GreenDragon! I'm jealous that you had so much more daylight than I did! Your photo is stunning. You definitely had better weather in May than I had in January!
Crisher - I'm glad you found it helpful. I hope you have a great trip!
It actually rained all but 2 of the 18 days we were there - but not all day. And the winds were always at least 25 mph the whole time. But it was glorious!
Flytheworld, thanks for your great review of Northern Island - beautiful! I was there some 13 years ago. Recall an excellent lunch at Bushmills. We did have time for the tour - quite a place.
Obviously, you stayed longer that I did out on the Causeway. Although it was August, the wind and rain were fierce so I hopped back on the jitney bus.
You were brave to go in January and I am glad you enjoyed it so much...
GreenDragon - Sounds like you got about as much rain as I did, then. I guess it's pretty standard for Northern Ireland!
latedaytraveler - That's great that you got to do the tour at Bushmills! I wish I could have done it. The winds were really strong when I got to Dunluce Castle, so I got off the bus to take a couple of photos and then got right back on!
