A trip to Copenhagen

Hi,
I'm thinking of visiting Denmark in June. I'm staying in Copenhagen for a week or two maybe. I've already booked my ticked, a good deal with lessno.com, and i've got almost everything arranged. Except the following fact.. I have no friends there and don't know almost any particular places of interest to go or visit .. I was wondering if you could tell me of some fun places to go and maybe some historical sites to visit there.. or at least could you suggest a website where I could find information like this. And there's this issue I'm a little worried about.. my stay there will coincide with the World Cup..I'm a football fan myself although I'm not that mad about it, but I am wondering how vielent some football fans are in their passion.. And although Denmark are not taking part in the World Cup(as far as I know), do you you think that there's any risk and should I be more cautious..

For clarification: The World Cup is held in Germany. Copenhagen is the capital of Denmark. The World Cup should thus have little to no impact on your travel - even more so since Denmark did not even qualify. That said, Danish football fans are among the most friendly and relaxed there are.

I have watched many matches between Germany and Denmark or between German and Danish clubs and have never encountered any trouble.

That said, I have watched countless matches between other clubs and nations and have never encountered any trouble.

Once and for all times: Forget about that football-phobia and that nonsense about all football fans being potentially violent. While there are some so called hooligans who are looking for trouble, they usually keep among themselves and do not threaten ordinary spectators. You'd me most likely left alone anyway if you do not show any special relationship to the opposing side.

One of my fondest memories is my trip to the European Championships in Portugal 2 years ago, where we all enjoyed a couple of drinks along with English, Swedish, Czech and Dutch fans - and trust me, the relationships are usually a bit tense, but at events like that a majority will usually limit the rivalry to the duration of the match - and afterwards prefer to be on friendly (if a bit kidding) terms again!

Copenhagen is a fine city and I trust you must have made it your destination on some purpose. Personally I would find 2 weeks a bit long (3 days might even do it), but that's me.
I like strolling along Ströget, having a pint at Nyhavn's canalside, take a boat tour of the city (Netto Badene are cheaper than DFDS), walk the 2 miles from Radhuspladsen to the Little Mermaid, spend some time in Tivoli and savour some Danish-French food, for which there are a couple of options. A nice one is Den Sorte Ravn IMHO, on the less crowded side of Nyhavn. The beach to the North around Kalundborg is quite nice, too and offers views of Sweden.

Enjoy your trip - and stop worrying about the World Cup!

You'll find the night life if you want to. I'm curious what takes you to Copenhagen since you seem to know so little about it. My neice, who this very moment is on a plane heading back to the US after a year in Copenhagen, says the Danes like American football better than "soccer". You will not be affected by World Cup events. If you are looking for night life, the Nyhavn area should be pretty lively in the summer. Tivoli Gardens would be interesting one evening. You don't say how old you are. You might like the Museum of Erotica perhaps? Why don't you google Copenhagen..you'll come up with a zillion hits and you can do some research and then come back with some specific questions.

I don`t think you'll have any problems in Denmark ... first ot all, we didn`t qualify for the world cup. Then we are not soccer fanatics like English, Turkish and Brazil fans
As for the places of interest you can visit this website
http://www.wordtravels.com/Cities/De...en/Attractions
I`ve also used lessno.com for buying tickets to places in Central and Western Europe, so you should not worry about trip difficulties.
I hope you enjoy your stay in Copenhagen !!! (Although I think Germany is the place to be at that time )

You could go to the destinations section of the website you're on right now, and find lots of information about Copenhagen.
