a stop along El Camino
My husband and I are familiar with El Camino - we have been to Santiago and seen the pilgrims finishing their walk. Realistically, we are not going to do this walk but we would like to experience just a small portion of it. Can you recommend a city somewhere along one of the routes we could stay for several nights and then walk on El Camino for a few miles in the day? It needs to be on a train line and if it would be easily combinable with a stay for a few days in San Sebastian, that would be perfect. Thank you!

There is a seaside portion of the Camino that you could access from San Sebastian. I walked from Zumaia to Deba. This may not be exactly what you are looking for, but the geology and scenery are too stunning to not mention. See more at http://www.caminosantiagodecompostel...ago-del-norte/

If you walk the last 100km of the Camino, you can request your Compostela, which, it seems, a lot of people do. It's not the easiest part of the Franch route, but it's is beautiful and can be done in 7 days.

The newer coastal route through the basque country, the Camino del Norte, is a bit easier (caminoways.com/ways/northern-way-camino-del-norte), but the rail line it follows, or runs close to, is the FEVE, the narrow guage rail line, which runs from Bilbao to Santander, Santander to Oviedo and from Oviedo-Gijón to Ferrol (Galicia).

El Camino does not exist. There several Caminos de Santiago.
The best forum is to read though is this one.

Queues at the cathedral.
