night trains are confusing the heck out of me, i would appreciate any kind of help ![]()
I will travel with a 2nd class youth select 5 countries Eurail pass. and i'll be taking a night train from Zurich ---> Rome and from Venice ---> Vienna
So with a 2nd class pass in hand, can i just pay more and book a double sleeper car, which requires a 1st class ticket? we're traveling as a group of 4 and we don't like to sleep with other people. unfortunately these trains don't have 4 ppl couchette ![]()
thanks everyone!!

Are you sure a train pass is the least expensive way to go. Have you compared prices on the pass with 2nd class point to point tickets. Train passes are usually only worth the money if you are doing a lot of traveling. Here's a site you can use to compare the prices of the pass to individual tickets.

we'll be backpacking Europe for about 3 weeks so we'll be doing a LOT of traveling. thanks for the site, it suggested that i go with the select 5 country pass too
Hi J,

>So with a 2nd class pass in hand, can i just pay more and book a double sleeper car, which requires a 1st class ticket?<
Of course. Don't be surprised if you have to pay full 1cl fare. Not all trains will give you a discount for your railpass.
I'd call whoever sold you your railpass and get the price from them.
